What to expect in your first teacher practice session

How to prepare and what teachers typically listen for in a live session.
A live Juz verification with an Ustadh or Ustadha is not an exam to fear — it is a checkpoint that confirms your work and shows you what to polish next. Here is how to walk in prepared and calm.
What teachers usually listen for
Fluency, Tajweed essentials, and whether mistakes are random or patterned. They are not hunting for perfection on day one.
Clear recitation with awareness beats rushed “completion” with many uncorrected habits.
How to prepare the week before
Recite the Juz aloud daily, note sticky Ayahs, and practise those openings and endings until they feel automatic.
Sleep well the night before. A rested voice and mind matter more than one extra late revision.
During the session
Begin with Bismillah, recite at a steady pace, and pause if you need to restart a line cleanly. Teachers prefer honesty over covering gaps.
On DaarulHuda, female students are matched with female teachers — so you can focus on the Qur’an, not on discomfort.
After you finish
Write down the feedback immediately. Turn each note into a short practice target for the next two weeks.
If you earn a progress certificate, treat it as fuel for the next Juz — not as the end of the journey.
